Duran Duran’s Rio album was originally released worldwide on 10 May 1982. It is one of the defining albums of the 80s New Romantic period and was certainly the turning point of Duran Duran’s career. Some 27 years later it has just been re-issued as a definitive collector’s version, spanning two CD’s and containing 19 additional tracks as well as the original 9. The album spawned 4 singles – My Own Way, Hungry Like The Wolf, Rio and Save a Prayer – all going Top 20 in the UK.

This collection gives you the original versions, as well as US versions of some tracks (Rio was re-issued for the US market with new mixes), original demo versions as well as 12' remixes (Carnival or Night versions) and a b-side.

Some of these tracks are rare, and have never been released on CD before. Whilst 5 versions of My Own Way may seem overkill, this is primarily for fans, however this re-release is worth getting just for the original 9 tracks. The album has stood the test of time well, and tracks like 'Save a Prayer’ and 'Hold Back the Rain’ still sound particularly fresh.
