Ok so lets get this out of the way. David Bowie, David Bowie, David Bowie!

Any review of the Motorpool is bound to mention the vocal similarities with a one, Mr David Bowie, and I, for one, am not about to miss out, so there, all done!

The creation of brothers Billie and James Traxler, The Motorpool's debut album ‘X Ray eyes' is a fine offering indeed. In fact, it's even organic, it just grows better every play! And that's the key to it you see, it's an intelligent original debut that you will not appreciate first or second time round. There's such diversity here, that every listen, you pick out something new. It's acoustic, it's rock, it's just damn good really.

So where do we start? At the beginning I think, the poppy, almost Iggy poppy ‘Neon Smile' launches us in and holds our attention, ‘Winter Suntan' one of their first singles follows on and I could go on and review every one of the twelve songs, but I'd rather point out a few highlights. If I had to pick out two songs to sell it to you I'd have to mention ‘This is what I live for' and ‘Shockwaves'. The first, a beautiful, tender acoustic offering that haunts to the end ... ‘The promise of a kiss, from the one I'll always miss, the promise of life'.

Then 'Shockwaves', with its low, curvy, sexy bass periodically interrupted by crashing guitars and howling vocals make this another.

In truth, every song becomes a friend, it will stay in your collection.

It's hard to describe the album really, so I thought I'd leave it to Brother Billie who calls it '39 minutes of aural pleasure', fair call Billie, everybody could do with 39 minutes of aural pleasure!
