Country music fan I am certainly not, but when you get a collection of artists such as Tony Joe White, Bonnie Bramlett, George Soule, Dan Penn, Donnie Fritts, Spooner Oldham, Larry Jon Wilson, Junior Lowe, Bryan Owings and David Hood, magic things seem to happen.

Recorded between 31st January and 11th February 2004 these original songs gently relax and caress the mind as only Southern Soul can do. There's blues/gospel/country/funk and even a hint of Motown included at no extra cost in this perfectly produced compilation. Stand out tracks include ‘It's Over' featuring George Soule, which sounds as if it could have been lifted from Mick Hucknall's ‘Stars' album, ‘Where's Eddie' featuring Bonnie Bramlett, perfect for a smooch under the covers with your significant other and the soul mover ‘Chicago Afterwhile' featuring Dan Penn. It's what I hope Nashville would sound like should I ever choose to dust off my cowboy boots and make the pilgrimage.

Prior to this all the classic country tunes seemed to be rooted way back in the past … this album has changed all that.
