Don’t be put off by the vinyl/digital only format, the Dark End of the Street EP is at least the equal of Jukebox, Chan Marshall’s earlier 2008 full length release, and should not be resigned to the shelves of completists.

Containing six songs originally by the Pogues, James Carr, Sandy Denny, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Otis Redding, and Aretha Franklin, recorded during the sessions for Jukebox, Dark End... is a more restrained affair overall. Lacking some of the ragged rock of the album is no hindrance, and any perceived pitfalls are thoroughly compensated for by a dose of the most impassioned musical interpretations of Marshall’s noteworthy career – 'Who Knows Where The Time Goes’ is astounding as a case in point.
