10 April 2008 (gig)

The West London four-piece had somewhat of a homecoming gig with their single launch party on Thursday night. After touring most of the UK, it was time for Dega Breaks to come back and show us what all the fuss is about, and they didn’t disappoint.
The Globe in Notting Hill was witness to what could be a landmark gig for these indie-synth specialists. The band is comprised of lead vocalist and guitarist Dominic Otero, guitarist and synth player Gavin Bilbe, bassist Eann Bilbe and drummer Alex Sabga-Brady. A count of four on the drumsticks and the band begin blazing through their impressive set, containing catchy new material which shows there is much more to come from the West London four.
Otero’s vocal style is distinctive, showing the microphone no mercy as he gracefully splatters out the lyrics to the single 'You got me working all day, and all night!'. A crowd pleaser for some time now, 'All Night’ produces a dirty, gritty sound led by the distorted guitar riff and synth which gets the heads bobbing and feet stomping from the off. Chants of 'De-Ga! De-Ga!’ frequently filled gaps between songs, so much so at times that Otero was unable to introduce the next song! The band finished up with their debut single 'Wake Up’ which is equally admired by DB fans, joining in the chorus 'Wake Up! You’re alone!'. An encore was always on the cards and the crowd were treated to a cover of the Frankie Goes To Hollywood classic 'Relax!’ which has understandably been in the band’s set list for some time now. With frequent radio play and an ever-increasing fan base, Dega Breaks look set for a bright future.
'All Night’ is available now on New Music Club.
