Once in a while an album comes out that renews your faith in all that is, shall we say rock 'n' roll. With attitude, frustration, originality (did I mention attitude?) well, this indeed is a contender.

My Red Cell I am told are the next 'big thing' from Wales, well maybe they are, maybe not, the fact is they have a raw, scintillating sound, with a certain edge and yet a maturity to it that makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. With two EP's to their name already, the boys from Barry have surely announced their arrival into mainstream music. From Punk to Pixies to AC/DC we have it all in the marvellous debut album '13 in my 31'. 'In a cage (on Prozac)' the new single and first track really sets the mood here, often-manic vocals coupled with terrorising lyrics 'I'm ten feet tall and I know just where your boyfriend lives', 'Got a knife and I know how to use it, and I know that he's to blame'. This really slams you head first into a white-knuckle roller-coaster ride of hard hitting, anger driven but ultimately honest exciting music. 'Bullet (One Day Closer)' and the stomping 'Going Out For Nothing' lead up nicely to the song that will break them into the mainstream market, 'Whisper The Fear', for me one of the best on the album.

I could go through each one individually but to be honest, each has got something raw and vibrant to offer in its own way, but special mentions go to 'Me Look You Look' and 'You Dumb', intense to say the least.

To be honest, not for the first time V2 have pulled off another cracking signing. For the faint hearted, the new Keane albums not bad I hear, but I implore you, give this a really good hard listen, turn it up, ignore the parents/flatmates/neighbours and let it rip!

A london show is to be confirmed, and they are touring at the moment, I suggest you get out there and see them.
