CD 01 kicks off with what for me, is this summer’s anthem: Gossip’s 'Standing In the Way Of Control’. Having just been out in Ibiza, largely for Ibiza Rocks, this was guaranteed to crank up the vibe in any one of the many bars or clubs out there. I just hope Ms Ditto and co. can recreate the quality in subsequent singles.

Followed by belters such as the Fratellis’ 'Chelsea Dagger’ (who I had the privilege of seeing out there, supported by fantastic newcomers to the circuit, The More Assured), The Pigeon Detectives’ 'I’m Not Sorry’ (so entrenched in Ibiza Rocks-mode that my holiday partner had a dream one night I had taken over as lead singer for TPD , he assures me I was excellent, but I don’t think Matt’s got anything to worry about), Maximo Park’s 'Our Velocity’.

No compilation would be complete this summer without the inclusion of Hot Chip’s 'Over and Over’, which, again, was a staple in most DJ’s sets throughout the island, similarly LCD Soundsystem’s 'North American Scum’, which I was convinced I kept hearing the intro to constantly during our two-week stay. It never was, so I reckon someone has ripped off the LCD boys , or I may have been drunk.

The Go! Team’s 'Grip Like a Vice’ and The Holloways’ 'Generator’ was only topped by one of my all-time favourite tracks for an indie-meets-dance collaboration, which is Bloc Party’s 'Banquet’.

All in all, this is a summer must-buy – saw me out to Ibiza, kept the vibe there back in the apartment when the world felt like it was a scary place and has kept me company back at home , will be the little piece of Ibiza I put onto my iPod and see me through to November, when I start planning next year’s holiday.
