The 90’s sexy duo are back and whipping up a storm in the UK. Yes, Right Said Fred are re-releasing a club remix of that 'can’t seem to get it out of your head track’ – 'I’m too Sexy’. The UK release date is 30 April on Tug records with a sexy music video number for boys, bi’s and girls..check it out.
Brothers Richard and Fred Fairbrass are back in London town, still as hot as ever and one is toying with standing for Major of London.
Music News managed to get a window in between their recording work and grab a music news interview with the sexy Richard,..
MN: So Right Said Fred are back in business, when did this happen?
RF: It’s good to be back! We’ve been working since 1991 in Europe, Germany mainly where we’ve had some sell-out tours. Since 'I’m too Sexy’ was released in1991, we then signed up with BMG in 2000 and worked on new material. We decided to come back to Britain as we were in danger of losing other markets, becoming narrow in terms of production and getting European in sound.
MN: Are all the original pop trio back together?
RF: No, just me and Fred, we stopped working with Rob back in 1996. We are working with Clive Ward now and get on really well with co-writing material. He does acoustics with us as well.
MN: What was the idea behind re-releasing I’m Too Sexy?
RF: It was because of the Daz ad last year..Our label made a point that people will wonder why we didn’t do a remix on the back of the ad. We’ve also done an ad in Germany for Mr Muscle (laughs)
MN: What’s different about the re-release?
RF: It’s a clubby vibe, a heavier and different arrangement we’ve done with 'Taste Makers’. They have taken out three lines of the song and rotated them.
MN: Where do u live in London? And I hear you are thinking of standing as an independent for Major of London?
RF: Am living in Hotels at the moment (laughs) but am going to be living in Chelsea..At least if I break something the Chelsea & Westminster is there (I laugh) I was just thinking about standing for Major of London as London’s transport costs and congestion charges need to be addressed (nod my head in agreement).Congestion charge should be on a pro-rata basis..Believe me the congestion charge will be from Greenwich out to Chiswick next. Also the non-smoking ban is where the government need to step back and stop telling us how to live our lives.
MN: Do you think you stand a good chance against sexy Ken?
RF: (Laughs) Think we need to get rid of Ken, he’s a pathological car-hater!
MN: Are you going to re-release 'Deeply Dippy’?
RF: This is a one-off..although we are releasing a greatest hits album.
MN: Have you any up and coming UK gigs, as you are getting a lot of press coverage?
RF: We need to keep badgering our agent, 'The Agency Group’ to organise them and get it together, but ask my brother about that , he feels the same.
MN: So what’s next for Right Said Fred?
RF: It is an exciting time for us, we are writing some of the best stuff that we’ve done since our first album 'Up’..and we have a brand new album out,..
