This schizophrenic EP has a mix of one good track and one rubbish one. The most obvious problem with this offering is that it doesn’t appear to know what type of music it is.

Lightspeed Heat is a combination of bands Whirlwind Heat and Lightspeed Champion, who at one point played live shows together, but at times the first track sounds like the noise I’d expect to hear from their roadies tuning the instruments in between sets.

Intermittently screaming guitar and screaming singer at times, and at others a whispering attempt at wistful that comes across more as drunken mumbling.

In My Dreams, the second track, sounds better, largely because of its increased focus. It’s a drippy psychedelic track and it’s deliberate and successful in setting its mood. It’s well written as well, knowing exactly when to change tempo and pick up the pace. The guitar playing is a bit stumbled at points but it’s still a solid track to put on a 'chill out and get stoned’ mix ' or on the Soundtrack for a Zach Braff film.

The band shows potential but needs to keep focussed. They’re talented ' but not talented to experiment or sell themselves off as a jam band without like a bunch of teenagers trying to learn their instruments.
