If you like MOR grunge, rasping passionate vocals and a thick emotional sound, this might hit your spot. Spitting out the worlds problems from his able shoulders like Fightstar minus some of the fight, actor Jared Leto moves swiftly towards musical credibility. With films including Requiem For A Dream, Girl Interrupted, Fight Club and American Psycho on his thespian cv, and memories of Keanu Reeves' often lambasted rock side project Dogstar, its not hard to approach 30 Seconds To Mars with a level of cynicism. However, in Leto's case, there appears to be enough musical substance, and not forgetting unit sales, to back up a successful venture in his 'second career'.

The band formed in 2001, released their acclaimed eponymously titled debut album the following year, and current album, A Beautiful Lie (2006) has sold over 900,000 copies in the U.S alone. The foursome, including Jared's brother Shannon on drums, Tomo Milicevic, guitars and Matt Wachter on bass, can boast support slots with Puddle of Mud and Audioslave, and their subsequent headline tour. Attack, the single, while perhaps formulaic in its genre, has enough gumption and belief to afford the band credibility in their own right and not just as an actors side project.
