Some call them the British OutKast while others compare them to James Brown, but one thing is for sure, Unklejam have a sound and cosmos of their own!
It’s refreshing to turn on the radio and get a full on highly fuelled funk-fest in amongst the wet guitar ballads and indie bands currently filling playlists. The first time I heard 'Love Ya’ I was smacked in the face by up tempo electro beats - something I wasn’t prepared for at the time.
I wasn’t sure what to make of their 'cosmic system overload’. However, the more I listened the more I find myself wanting to hear more of their funked up flavour.
Tyson 'Tendai' Speede, Bobby Joel Stearns, Adonistar deliver this fast and funky debut combining a bit of this and a bit of that to create Unklejam’s unique sound. Their look and sound is instantly recognisable and so they stick out like George Clinton in a boy band convention.
'Love Ya’ is the perfect track to rid you of those winter blues as they ask you to 'shake it' and then shake it some more. The bouncy funk and addictive lyrics certify Unklejam’s title as one of the most exciting groups of 2007 ' this is just the beginning!
