His first single of the year 'which rose to number 54 in the UK charts' represents DJ Shadow, aka Josh Davis’, most Californian musing. With soulful lyrics and 70’s Jackie Brown-esque backings mixed with the usual hip hop blends, this is an upbeat and wholly accessible track that would happily accompany any cold drink on a sunshiny day. With a helping of Motown, it represents Shadow’s attempts at providing a melee of sounds which somehow manage to be both upbeat and relaxing. How does he do it?
