Murder By Death front man Adam Turla calmly took to the stage with the rest of his 4-piece Bloomington Indiana based band in front of an expectant audience. 'Desserts On Fire’ from their second album "Who Will Survive, And What Will Be Left Of Them?" was the first track to get the critics minds musing. The concept album, a tagline from the 1974 film the Texas Chain Saw Massacre, is typical of what Murder By Death (starting to get the picture) are all about. Deep, dark, edgy, murderous, South American, Spaghetti Western music. Vocally we are talking Nick Cave with a hint of Chris Cornell and a dash of The Veils. With intros like 'this song is completely depressing’ we get the angle that Adam is coming at us from, but it’s his staunch conviction as well as the encompassing intensity that really grabs you. During the set the band disappear leaving Adam with an acoustic strapped to his back as if ready to impart sacred parables to the gathered few. There is also a poetic quality to Adam’s delivery that is perfectly complemented by the Sarah Balliet’s cello/keys. Speaking to Music news after the show Adam said 'We had fun, made the most of the equipment we had which was not our own. We just love playing rock n’ roll music to a rock n’ roll crowd. We’re back in again April'. Catch them then before they get the fame they deserve.
