Aimee Mann

Ms Mann has produced a real Xmas pudding with classic songs mixed in with some Mann originals and in the main it works well.
Her voice is well suited to the deeply emotional season and her understated style allows the songs to carry themselves.
There are some serious quirks, who ever thought of a Hawaiian Steel guitar on 'Winter Wonderland’ for instance, and the country style doesn’t fit everything but her version of 'White Christmas’ is fabulous, all shimmering guitar and muted tympani.
If the world needs another Xmas album this is probably it.
