Nearly thirty years out of the music industry hasn't diminished the clear, beautiful vocal tones of the former Cat Stevens. His simplistic yet effective style remains untarnished, and while the new single probably won't challenge classics like Father and Son, Wild World, Morning Has Broken or Matthew and Son, and though it errs on the side of sickly sweet, and appears to add nothing new to his 70's gems, when the song gathers pace it brings some modern, rejoiceful relevance.

Perhaps now is the time for a Muslim artist to bridge a popular cultural gap between the east and west, and maybe that's part of the reason for his re-emergence. Whatever the reason, and even if Heaven/Where True Love Goes may be Cat Stevens formulaic, he's been in the music wilderness far too long. The accompanying album, released in November, will no doubt be full of special, if not sentimental moments. Welcome back.
