Yet another dance music compilation! Browse the shelves of any high street music shop and within seconds you’ll hit upon at least five dance music compilations featuring similar tracks, all within the new release section. The market is saturated with such albums so what makes Kiss Does, Funky House stand out from the rest?
Well, after just one listen it’s clear all the recent big hitters in the new wave of funky house are there 'Bob Sinclar’s 'World Hold On', Tom Novy’s 'Your Body' and David Guetta’s smash 'Love Don’t Let Me Go' are stand out popular tracks. And then there are a few of the genre’s oldies but goodies remixed for the new clubbing audience, such as the sultry 'To Be In Love' from MAW, Sandy B’s 'Make the World Go Around' and Morillo’s 'Jazz In Your Face'. It’s just a shame they also threw in the likes of Teamsters’ 'Feels Like Love' [think funky-house-by-numbers] to upset the balance,
The combination of contemporary tracks and older, funked-up tunes make this a great mix for getting ready to a Saturday night out on the town. Kiss Does,Funky House doesn’t offer a groundbreaking concept or unique tune selection but who cares when you’ve got some of the latest and greatest commercial funky tracks all in one place. And not to mention some of the biggest and most credible names of the genre with Danny Howells, Steve Angello and Erick Morillo all featuring on the tracklisting. This album’s not for dance music purists but will definitely get any house party going.
