If you, like me, remember little more about Babybird except the comedy perviness of 'You’re Gorgeous' circa 1994, then you might also be curious about this new album, the first in six years by Babybird ' aka Stephen Jones.

From the delicate ballad of opener 'Too Much' to the more electro-rock, twisted beats of 'Dive' or guitar-fuelled '70' this is a real broad showcase for Jones, who sounds like he’s maintained his sense of humour and energy but is further accomplished and now able to draw on more diverse experiences and influences to achieve a more rounded album.

He is occasionally reminiscent of Blur or REM, the linchpin of his distinctive voice and clever instrumental arrangements creating a varied album that uses a smorgasbord of effects with a simple and typically Brit-Indie-rock structure to the majority of his tracks.

A good solid listen that could easily be played from start to finish without tempting even the most impatient of listeners to press the shuffle or eject buttons.
