In the rare old days of Prog Jade Warrior were way ahead of their time. They crafted beautiful music featuring Western, Eastern, Oriental, Middle Eastern and rock influences, full of tonal shades and colours that were unfortunately too subtle for the audience of the time. Today they might sit comfortably in the World Music/Chill Out or even Ambient camps and their following would be assured.
Jade Warrior were Jon Field and Tony Duhig and these 4 beautifully crafted concept albums were originally released on Island where Chris Blackwell had taken a personal hand in signing them after they were dropped by Vertigo. Unfortunately Island did no better in marketing the band and after these 4 albums they went their separate ways.
Eclectic have completely remastered all of the music and are releasing each of the albums as a separate entity. The sound quality is superb, no evidence of tape hiss or compression and the quiet moments ' of which there are plenty ' are filled with emptiness.
The packaging is excellent and very faithful to the original artwork.
All four albums are worth the cost but 'Floating World’ is an excellent starting point.
