Well, what a lovely voice. Zoë Johnston’s finished, soothing soprano on her debut album 'Happenstances’ shows very little sign of wear and tear from 18 months touring with Faithless, for whom she sang 'Crazy English Summer’.

A couple of festivals and a baby later, and she’s got round to releasing 'Happenstances’, written and produced under her own steam and providing a richly warming solo singer’s insight into her own life’s trials and tribulations.

The songs are suitably her own to be considered unique, yet appropriately familiar to other female crooners to nestle into a niche along side the Nerina Pallots and KT Tunstalls of this world. The acoustic background exposes the bare polish of her vocals and the strums and plucks ensure these heartfelt lyrics come neatly across and glide through song by song.

A pleasure to listen to.
