There are Ibiza club nights, and then there is David Guetta at [UNVRS]. From the moment you enter the island’s newest superclub, the sheer scale is breathtaking. Vast space, spectacular lighting and extraordinary eco dome, overhead give the feeling that you’ve stepped into a high bred nightclub, arena show and futuristic circus...

But one of the night’s most memorable moments comes before David Guetta even reaches the decks.

Guetta makes his entrance his own.. through the club itself, the seas part as the crowd let him through, phones immediately shooting into the air as people realise who is walking just feet away from them. A genuine surge of near hysteria,as he heads towards the booth, turning what could have been a routine entrance into a piece of theatre spectacle..

Galactic Circus has landed…

Lights sweep around the enormous room, lasers cut through the darkness as the dome becomes part of the show, illuminated by constantly changing visuals above the crowd. At times there is so much happening, that you don’t quite know where to look…

Guetta, however, remains at the centre of it all.

The French superstar moves through pounding house, EDM and familiar pop\-infused dance anthems, expertly building anticipation before delivering the drops everyone is waiting for Titanium, Memories and I’m Good & 40; Blue& 41, become huge communal singalongs, with thousands of voices, and pure energy…

What is striking is Guetta’s energy. At 58, and after decades behind the decks, there’s zero sense of somebody simply going through the motions. He lives his set..dances, jumps and conducts the room, appearing to relish the reaction every bit as much as the crowd…

Galactic Circus is deliberately excessive… dancers, booming bass, spectacular visuals and relentless lighting combine to create sensory overload on a monumental scale.

This isn’t underground Ibiza, and it doesn’t pretend to be. It’s glossy, theatrical and shamelessly crowd-pleasing.

Beneath that illuminated dome, surrounded by thousands of people dancing as Guetta unleashes another enormous anthem, resistance seems rather pointless..

Sometimes you just have to surrender to Ibiza.

And this was one hell of a show….
