Sunday begins with the Truck staple of Mr Motivator on the main stage encouraging people to shake off last night's cider and get up and move for the final day. Sun still shining, red strap marks across bodies, and a slight calm before the final day storm.
The Market Stage today treated us the band Theatre who put on a great show, before later on into my second most anticipated set of the weekend from Keo, who again didn’t disappoint, neither did the crowd. Circa Waves closed The Market Stage this year with a large crowd singing back all the words.
Special shout out to Gans who put on an incredible set over in The Nest with plenty of energy.
The main Truck Stage had a complete mix of artists today, kicking off early afternoon with Vanessa Carlton, waiting a few songs before delivering the one most were probably there for ‘A thousand Miles’ before probably the most exciting set of the weekend from Rizzle Kicks. Having seen them last year, I knew they were going to be fun to photograph, and they didn’t disappoint, with even a surprise appearance from Harley’s child joining the boys on stage for a dance, riding his dads shoulders across..
Next up on the main stage were Earlestown favourites The K’s, with a great moment from Dexter on bass who managed to control a size 5 wellied from the crowd with complete coolness, things you love to see. Followed by The Libertines gracing the Truck Stage - amazing to see the legendary band together, with Pete and Carl stood side by side at the mic stand delivering music only they can. The evening, and indeed weekend was drawing to a close, but it was time for one more band, The Wombats. Having also headlined back in 2023, it was good to see them back again. A band full of classics from ‘Moving to New York’ and ‘Kill the director’ before finishing on ‘Let’s dance to Joy Division’ and the mandatory amazing Truck Festival Fireworks to finish the weekend.
Looking out over the field, people on shoulders others arm in arm, you can see it means so much to so many. Enjoying those musical moments with friends, new and old, is a special time. Live music is that special thing that can bring strangers together, and friends closer.
There is so much to do at Truck Festival. Plenty of diversity from gameshows, to drag acts, live podcasts, a dedicated children's area, to the after hours silent discos and Switch DJs in The Market Stage, there is something for everyone.
Truck, never change.
