Actor, producer and writer E.R Fightmaster has recently released their debut album Tolerance, although it's not their first dip into the music world for the Grey's Anatomy star. E.R Fightmaster was a part of music duo Twin, and also released two EPs in recent years – Violence and Bloodshed Baby – showing the world that the indie rocker with the unique vibe has a lot of passion for bringing their creative vision into the music studio.

Unveiled on June 5th, Tolerance is an eleven track project that E.R Fightmaster released independently, showing that the artist has a direct vision for their work and is able to produce music without nudges, guidance or pokes from industry insiders (who would surely only dilute the vision the star has).

There is a powerful rawness and honesty to the album, with Fightmaster touching upon feelings of jealousy, grief, loss and uncertainty. The album opens with the haunting Move Through, an atmospheric number that has a smoky charm to it. Pop through and through, yet certainly classy. “Forever has a way of feeling shorter everyday,” Fightmaster sings wistfully, “and I don't want to waste a single minute. How many ways can we set each other free, I don't want a life without you in it.”

“I'm walking away unless you think there's something else to say,” says Fightmaster in All or Nothing. “I will leave the window open just in case you call my name.” An engaging track that's quite the earworm and a song that longs for several plays. It is an upbeat, mid-tempo that showcases a lightness to Fightmaster's vocals.

Quicksand has an edgy vibe; it's a catchy number that finds Fightmaster pondering a changing and evolving relationship, a feeling that things are swiftly altering but there's a desperation to stop things falling further. “So we landed on nothing, but it isn't what we wanted,” Fightmaster sings in this memorable number. Press Release is a striking track which sees Fightmaster climb through the debris of a broken relationship, and exploring the ways we are often tempted to sanitise others or paint them as the problem. It's a hooky track which stays with you long after an initial play.

“I have been talking to God, she isn't listening. She's says she's busy, I'll wait,” Fightmaster sings in track Versailles, which is truly one of the standouts of the album. There's a mournful quality to the song, which finds Fightmaster singing about a love that, for whatever, has diminished, leaving a hollowness behind in its wake.

Glide, which is one of the single releases, is an experimental sounding moment on the album which is markedly different from the tracks that come before it. A unique and captivating song, it is an astounding track that leaves you wanting more - but we're so satisfied that we have it at all, for it sounds so other-worldly and different. A true gem and an exceptional example of Fightmaster's creativity and unique vision.

Title track Tolerance is a moody and lyrically witty song. “I could kill myself and walk it off,” Fightmaster sings. “You can’t change me, it’s the only thing I know. I’m trying I’m trying, I just can’t let it go. You can’t shame me, I'm already filled up to the brim.” The album closer, Plan of Attack for Dying, is a song about loss and grief yet there is a hopeful and breezy vibe to it. “I’ll try not to let it hurt my feelings, that you’re so at peace with death. I’ll be calling your name in the Great Beyond while you’re rolling your eyes with your halo on. It’s been a good one and I’m proud of what I’ve done, but when I meet the Reaper I’ll still run...” It's beautiful moment on Tolerance and a powerful way to close the door on the 11 track album.

All in all, Tolerance is a powerful pop album and showcases so much promise for what is to come from the American actor and singer. If this latest release is any indication, Fightmaster certainly has a home in the music world and their fans can't wait to hear more.
