Chris Chalmers is better known for his work with the Belfast-based band The 2:19. This album sees him in a new incarnation, along with bandmate Marty Young, as Chirs Chalmers & The Souvenirs.
Long time friends and collaborators, recording began in April 2025 at Chris’s family home in Belfast—situated on the very street where he and Marty grew up. Young recorded, mixed and mastered the whole album.
Along with a few guest artists, everything here was written or performed by Chris & Marty. The album features backing vocals from Suzy Coyle of California Irish, harmonica by Paul Winn of DC Blues, and organ work from John McCullough, celebrated for his collaborations with Van Morrison and many others. McCullogh’s organ work is a real delight.

The result is very listenable. A wide swathe across the Americana spectrum, Chris’s vocals are excellent and the playing on all tracks is above average. The songs have a slightly sombre hue, looking back on relationships, friendships and – as on the title track – family. I would suggest that any fan on The Band will find much here to enjoy.

This was a completely unexpected little gem, but some things drop in your lap when you least expect them. Very well worth checking out.
