True Yorkshire Rose musician Ellur played and got the chance to showcase her debut album ‘At Home In My Mind’ at Yellow Arch, Sheffield, in her home county.

In the supporting slot was Nadia Kadek, and this 22-year-old won over the crowd instantly. Her alt-pop, contemporary songs were played with visibly raw emotion, and with the stripped-back instrumental style in her music, this left her vocals shining centre stage.

At this point of the evening, moments away from when our headliner Ellur would grace the stage, the venue was completely packed out with her adoring fans focused on the stage, willing her to come.

Making her entrance, she received a very warm welcome with cheers and clapping. Ellur kicked off her set with ‘Dream of Mine’, an indie track which offers pounding drums but with an air of funkiness from the guitar riff.

With her being a Yorkshire lass, she mentioned how great it was to play in Sheffield throughout the set, and I’m sure this made fans feel even more connected to her. You can tell she felt at home with how strong her stage presence and fan interaction were.

For me, the highlight of the set was ‘Missing Kid', a truly amazing track. Opening with these powerful, energetic guitar chords that sound comparable to Sam Fender’s style of music.

Her vocals are so interesting; she marks herself out from the rest partly by singing in a Yorkshire accent, which is so unique, but can easily transition into strong, powerful vocals that have passion coursing through every note.

Ellur is a very versatile artist, with some tracks like ‘Missing Kid’ and ‘God Help Me'. Now she's very much in the indie genre, but she also has ballad-style stripped-back tracks such as ‘Knowing’ and ‘The World Is Not An Oyster’.

She finished her set on an unreleased gem, titled ‘Caves, Handprints', and judging by the crowd reaction, many will be streaming this one as soon as it's possible. What a great night of brilliant music!
