The quality of musicianship fairly leaps out of the ‘grooves’ of this recording. Four musicians with a stellar history coming together to make an album of stunning Blues, full of stories and emotions. The band is comprised of Tom ‘The Suit’ Forst – a Blues/Rock Hall Of Fame inductee - on guitars and vocals, Tony Delisio – multi award winning – bass and vocals, Jeff Bousfield on keyboards & Bryan Caudle on drums & percussion. Between them they have played thousands of sessions and played with bands that have supported the likes of Styx and Marshall Tucker band. There is a special kind of magic that happens when experienced musicians get together to play with and for each other, guys who have been ‘playing the dots’ for years, now creating original music that they are an organic part of. That is evident all through this album. It feels as though the band are working as one, no-one holding back or just contributing a ‘bit’. Deliso & Forst wrote the 10 tracks here and they write about adulterous relationships, finding love, the struggle to keep the Blues alive and even an introspection on the nature of life & death (!).
The playing throughout is exceptional with stunning bass work from Delisio and powerful drumming from Bryan Caudle – the Groove that they create is palpable. The keyboards add texture and counterpoint while Forst’s vocals are throaty and emotive – very reminiscent of Danny Bryant and Johnny Winter – with some fine guitar work.
An excellent afternoon’s listening to a band who sound as though they are having fun and making fine music.
