Cat Burns performed the last night of her “How to Be Human” tour and sold out the O2 Academy Brixton! She told us that she had been crying the morning of the show and even shed some tears up on the stage because she was playing her dream venue on the two year anniversary of her grandad’s passing. Despite the venue being sold out, the space felt intimate and heartfelt.

This was represented in the set too which reflected a living room type of set up. The guitarist and pianist had a rug below them, as well as the front of the stage having two other homely rugs. There were home plants and low light lamps all around the stage and a sofa that Cat would often sit on and chat to us or just take a moment to absorb the crowd and the moment.

For some of the songs, like “When I’m With You”, Cat explained the meaning behind writing the song, the feelings she has experienced and gave a special shoutout to her girlfriend who was in the audience. Everyone lit up the room with their phone flashlights and we all swayed our arms and sang along. It was a special moment.

She played her whole album from start to finish and explained how that was a risk but the crowd absolutely loved it. Swaying their hands for the slower ballads like “Please Don’t Hate me” and jumping up, dancing and singing along for some others like “Sad Forever,” and “GIRLS.” Cat was also dancing around the stage with us and it was nice to share the moment as an audience and an artist. “All This Love” was a truly magical and powerful, as well as emotional. It felt like the whole room were together sharing love – like one big hug, together.

Cat ended with her iconic song… “go”. Huge singalongs rippled across the room, fans were united and shouting the lyrics. Everyone was up on their feet and Cat just turned the mic towards us and let us belt out. It was a great way to end the show.
