Massive Wagons have garnered quite the reputation as THE live band on the hard rock scene at the moment. As Lancaster residents, they were the perfect choice to reopen the Great Hall in Lancaster University as a gig venue, and for two days in mid-September last year, and after the venue had been silent for forty years, they ruled.

This is a relentless assault. 12 tracks that tear out of the speakers, demanding attention, demanding that you turn the volume way up, pounding away with abandon and creating a wall of sound that is as insistent as it is impassable.

Yet, in a way that many do not, there are melodies and tunes in amongst the heavy riffs and braggadocio. Barry Mills is one of the best live vocalists around, ably supported by Alex Thistlethwaite – Drums, Adam Thistlethwaite - Guitar/Vocal, Stephen Holl - Guitar/Vocal and Adam Bouskill - Bass Guitar. They carry the crowd with ease and the recording is good enough to carry over the sheer excitement of the band in their natural environment.

Their most favoured tracks are all here, in all their glory.

I wish more bands could recreate this standard of live performance on an album release, but this will do for now – classic rock played at maximum excitement.
Love every minute of it.
