The UK’s indie pop scene has a new name turning heads. With sharp lyricism, playful honesty, and irresistibly catchy melodies, Daisy Peacock is quickly emerging as one of the most exciting young artists to watch.
We caught up with Daisy before her supporting slot for Harriet Rose on Saturday in Sheffield at Yellow Arch.
How are you feeling ahead of tonight's show?
Daisy: I'm really excited. This is the first time I've brought the band with me up to Sheffield since Tramlines, which is really exciting, really cool venue as well. I've actually never been here before, and it's looks so cool, so it’s going to be a good one I hope!
Yes, lots of people down early too which is great. What can the audience expect from your set tonight?
Daisy: I am playing quite a few songs I've released, as well as some new ones, one that we've actually never played live before as well, which is exciting, hopefully, lots of good energy. Girl power vibes.
How would you describe your sound to someone hearing you for the first time?
Daisy: I’d say like feel good, kind of Girl pop. I always say it's like something's about your failed situation-ship, because that's what I mostly worry about, but yeah, like, not too serious. Loads of pop rock and powerful female energy.
I can definitely hear that in your music. What inspired your latest music or releases?
Daisy: So ‘Girlbestfriend’ came out in November, and that was inspired by the girl he told you not to worry about trope and there being like a best friend on the side, which is actually directing anger at that.
Something I think we can all relate to! What are some of the artists that have influenced your style?
Daisy: Definitely artists like Olivia Rodrigo and Taylor Swift. Holly Humberstone as well, Avril Lavigne, some Paramore too. With some of my latest release it definitely veers on the pop-rock style. But Taylor was my first inspiration without a doubt.
Are there any upcoming releases or projects that fans should look out for?
Daisy: Yes, my song ‘In The Middle’ is coming out soon, I don’t have a date yet, but its going to be soon so make sure you look out for it. I’m so excited and I’m playing it tonight!
Where can people follow your music?
Daisy: daisypmusic on all social media and Daisy Peacock on Spotify.
