Davey Jones hails from Southern Mississippi and plays in a combination of styles, including Delta Blues licks. He writes all the songs and plays all the instruments – and from what I can tell, even producing and mixing the release himself.
He has been playing his music around Mississippi, Louisiana & Tennessee for over 30 years.

I wouldn’t say that Davey Jones does anything I’ve never heard before, but he does play the Blues, with gospel and even funk leanings, very well.
He has a clear vocal style, although not exactly tuneful, but his guitar playing is really what sets him up – he is a damn fine axeman. His songwriting is a pretty high quality as well.

What I get most from this album is a musician that has huge experience both playing and writing. The songs all sound as though they would go down well onstage – either in a small bar or medium sized venue, this is not stadium music. Lots of Delta influenced music here and it is clear that his upbringing in Hattiesburg influenced his musical leanings.
His words create strong images of the South and there is a feeling of truth in his music and his songs.

Very well worth checking out.
