One of the UK’s most exciting and versatile bands, The Clause, played the Foundry in Sheffield last week and the entire show was impeccable.

As the lights lowered, the speakers blasted out Morning Glory by Oasis as the Brummy band made their entrance onto the stage and into the spotlight.

With an air of swagger in their step and clear confidence on stage, The Clause launched into their first track of the night, ‘Nothing’s As It Seems’, to the energetic crowd’s delight. The audience went mental, bouncing around and knocking fellow gig goers in every direction.

Next up, in what already felt like a high energy set, was ‘Tell Me What You Want’, which came across as a clear fan favourite from their debut album ‘Victim Of A Casual Thing’, judging by the way the crowd responded.

Two older tracks followed. First was ‘Fake It’, packed with gritty riffs and powerful vocals, shortly followed by ‘Electric’, the first of many songs that saw the crowd on each other’s shoulders and moving in unison.

Throughout the set, it was clear this was not The Clause’s first rodeo. They interacted effortlessly with the crowd, hyping them up and keeping them fully engaged. It was also exceptionally clear that the band are incredibly grateful for their fan base and how far they have come so far, while remaining determined to go even further.

One of their most popular tracks, ‘I Don’t Care’, offered something distinctive in the form of a ‘Pump Up The Jam’ intro, which the crowd thoroughly enjoyed. ‘Where Are You Now?’ then brought moments of slower pace and vulnerability from the band.

‘Don’t Blink’ ended with a burst of confetti and it appeared the set had finished. However, there were still two tracks the fans had been expecting from the moment they arrived and had been eagerly awaiting.

The Clause finished off this Friday night set, perfectly setting everyone up for the weekend, with ‘Weekend Millionaire’ and ‘In My Element’.

I cannot wait to see this band again and continue to watch them grow even further.
