On Saturday (22nd November), the UK’s rising rock stars South Arcade played Stylus in Leeds, and from the moment they stepped on stage they had the whole crowd in the palm of their hands.
The evening’s supporting act was Liverpool band STONE, who got the Stylus punters fired up for the headliners’ big entrance. The DJ also made sure the crowd was ready for South Arcade’s slot, playing a mix of rock, indie and punk bangers that had everyone getting increasingly excited as they sang together, arm in arm.
As South Arcade burst onto the stage full of joy and energy, the crowd went wild, screaming, cheering and chanting, giving them a proper Yorkshire welcome to this sold-out show.
The band kicked off their set with the high-energy ‘Fear of Heights’, sending them bouncing around the stage while still playing with precision. They moved on to one of their biggest tracks, ‘Supermodel’, showcasing just how powerful and unique Harmony’s vocals are.
The crowd mirrored the band’s energy with constant mosh pits, jumping and singing back every line, especially during ‘HOW 2 GET AWAY WITH MURDER’.
During this Leeds set, the band played not one but two unreleased tracks: ‘Bleed Out’, which leaned into their classic punk-rock sound, and ‘Blood Run Warm’, a more ballad-style, emotional rock track reminiscent of Pale Waves. Both songs were lapped up by the crowd, who will no doubt be eagerly awaiting their release.
At one special moment, a fan in the front row gave the band a handmade flag, which they held proudly on stage, prompting a huge cheer from their devoted fans.
A notable shout-out goes to the venue, as the sound in Stylus was incredibly clean and only enhanced the band’s performance.
South Arcade finished their Leeds set with ‘stone cold summer’ and ‘2005’, their two biggest fan favourites, sending the crowd into yet more pits, belting out the loudest singing I’ve ever heard from a concert audience, and closing the evening on a phenomenal high.
