Manchester four-piece band Balancing Act are returning to Sheffield for another show this year, supported by local lad Harry Lyon.

Entering Yellow Arch, a fair few punters have got down for tonight’s support slot and as Harry Lyon enters the stage, the energy in the room increases and you can feel the buzzing atmosphere through the air.

The crowd grows bigger as he moves through his set of original tracks and he performs each with passion and precision - easily the best I’ve seen him play to date.

Next up, we eagerly await our headliners Balancing Act, and since their last show here they’re ready to showcase the first part of their debut album ‘Who’ve You Come As? (Part 1)’, which was released last Friday (October 3rd).

The setlist kicks off with ‘Mr Handsome’, a new release, but it’s evident their fan base has done their research as they sing along with the band.

It’s clear watching their crowd interaction the band are growing ever confident and at home on the stage.

Next up we move into ‘Laylow’, one of their earlier releases and a clear fan favourite. The track is interesting with the elements of layering, starting stripped back instrumentally and vocally, and as the tension builds within the song’s lyrics, the instrumental follows the same formula and the band are laying everything that have out in front of our bare eyes on the stage to this one tonight, it’s really is brilliant to watch and to hear.

‘Talks A Lot’ another notable interesting track on this evening. This one offers something different to Balancing Act’s normal repetoir with a less heavy sound created, but it isn’t a bad thing, it demonstrates the bands versatility to be able to offer levels in their music like this.

Balancing Act finish their set off with two of their most popular tracks. One of the closing tracks is ‘She Plays The Theremin’ – a high energy, with a deep, heavy but underlying instrumental, and the emotive ‘All Yours’.
