WET LEG are back with a new album and their better than ever. I had the pleasure of watching them launch ‘moisturizer’ at the Foundry, Sheffield last night, and the band proved they are definitely not a one trick pony.

Entering the Foundry: it is rammed, packed the rafters, a sea of punters ready to hear ‘moisturizer’ live for the first time, and clearly the band have got these fans in the palm of their hands with an atmosphere that is nothing short of eager and excited.

As the band grace the stage, the crowd give them a warm Steel City welcome and let out a loud roar.

The set kicks off with ‘catch these fists’ and I’m transported back to the first time I had the pleasure of listening to this song. For me, the first album didn’t hit the spot but this more intense, heavy rock era the band have transitioned to is absolutely nothing short of exceptional. The sleek, shy vocals around relentless riffs is a contrast but it’s one with a perfect pay off.

We move through more of the set with tracks from the new album and their debut including ‘liquidize’, ‘Ur Mum’, and ‘jennifer’s body’. Each song offers something different and you have to respect it when many bands nowadays churn out songs that sound the same, with the same old chords.

Wet Leg are the opposite, they are fresh and creative, with a new-found sense of grit.

The band launch into ‘Chaise Longue’ - a clear fan favourite which is widely received by the crowd who demonstrate adoration by belting out each line.

Our evening comes to a close with ‘CPR’ and as the set ends, I feel absolutely satisfied with the exceptional show this band have put on tonight.

I’m overjoyed for the opportunity to see them launch this album and I’m excited to see what’s next for Wet Leg.
