Fresh from her iconic Glastonbury set, Olivia Rodrigo is ready to take Manchester by storm tonight.
The atmosphere and tension is so high as fans filling out every seat with an arena who are eagerly waiting for one of the most exciting singers of the decade to put on a show.
As Olivia graces the stage the crowd let out a roar of delight and the Manchester set kicks off with ‘obsessed’. Glastonbury may be heavy on an artist but she shows no signed of faltering with a voice that sounds even better in the flesh.
It may be an explosive opener but we are only at the beginning of tonight, and it is clear this show will be unforgettable.
We move into another Rodrigo classic ‘ballad of a homeschooled girl’ where she shows her pop-punk personality in full force and her performance evokes memories of Avril Lavigne in her prime.
Two moments which really showcased quite how strong, beautiful and emotional her song writing and vocals are was during ‘vampire’ and ‘drivers license’. It felt like a moment of unity; everyone’s on this 22-year-old, from the other side of the world, engaged, belting out every line she sat and wrote in her bedroom while just a teenager.
Olivia finished her set with the guitar heavy ‘get him back!’, leaping around the stage while still delivering each lyric with professionalism and confidence, the crowd are elated and savouring their last moments of the show which I think none of us ever want to end.
Rodrigo, you are a star and always will be.
