As The Leadmill’s final weeks’ fast approach, there is a repertoire of big names scheduled to see out the end of this iconic venues last dances, and tonight Scottish Rockers Twin Atlantic are headlining, supported by Jetski.
Walking into Leadmill feels full of emotion and reflection, many nights spent in this room watching my favourite bands or dancing on a Sonic Saturday surrounded by friends and good music, knowing this is one of the last times as a city we’ll get to experience this feels disheartening.
However, as Twin Atlantic grace the stage those worries disappear and I have no doubt they will for the next hour or so because they open with their latest single ‘Salvation’ and the crowd are fired up, mirroring the bands ecstatic energy.
Tonight’s opening track is nothing short of explosive with a big energy, heavy instrumental.
The band take a moment to address the loss of The Leadmill and it really does show the impact this venue has had on the entire industry, and it feels sentimental to see the band showing their passion for this venue as much as the fans are tonight, and have done for decades.
We move through an array of brilliant, intense tracks including ‘No Sleep’, ‘Make a Beast Of Myself’, ‘Barcelona’ and ‘Brothers & Sister’.
Throughout each track the bands stage presence remains so confident and professional which endears the crowd even more.
As we reach the final track, everyone in the room knows what time it is, and indeed it is time to ‘Open up your heart and your soul’.
‘Heart & Soul’ the final track of the night sends the entire crowd bouncing and belting out this line.
The Leadmill – we love you.
