Gary Moore Live - From Baloise Session

It is over 14 years since Gary Moore passed away and the shock of his passing was reignited by listening to this superb live session.
He made his name as guitarist with Thin Lizzy, but his solo career showed that he was far more than just a guitarist – his gruff and punchy vocals were excellent and he made for a terrific front man.
This set sees him playing in France and includes most of his popular numbers.
‘I Love You More Than You Will Ever Know’ is quite fantastic. There is a tone that Gary Moore manages that is unique to him. It brings out all sorts of emotions as he stretches and twists the strings to create ridiculous sustain and elongation of the note. One of the really great rock ballads and performed to perfection.
‘Still Got The Blues’ is fabulous. A slow Blues with, again, that fabulous guitar tone. His vocals here are perfect for the song. He tells stories in the lyrics and in his presentation. The song is a classic for a reason and this performance is excellent.
He can tear it up as well, of course, and ‘Since I Met You Baby’ is Blues/rock at its best. His opening on the song has touches of SRV, but his solos are all his own.
’30 Days (To Come Back Home)’ and the encore ‘The Blues IS Alright’ show just why he is so highly regarded by everyone in the genre.
It is a brilliant release of an artist who was loved by everyone who follows Blues & Rock and a very worthwhile session too.
