Bonamassa is breaking through to his own past.
In so many way, this single hearkens back to the sound of Joe Bonamassa around the time of ‘Sloe Gin’, maybe even ‘New Day Yesterday’.

Co-written with long-time collaborator Tom Hambridge (Buddy Guy, ZZ Top, Lynyrd Skynyrd), as a number, it is a blast. Powerful riffs and the strongest vocals I can remember from Joe B, the band around him playing as tightly as possible to allow him the freedom to play and emote.

Think of the guys he has influenced – the Philip Sayces and the like – and you can hear exactly what was in his sound backaways that they picked up on. And yet, it is a clear evolution in Bonamassa’s sound, a Joe Bonamassa revelling in the freedom to play what he wants and when.

Brilliant.
