Chantel McGregor has been winning hearts and awards for a goodly while, with her music moving from Blues to metal and Progressive with touches of Psychedelic thrown in for good measure. Throughout, she has been a solo act, writing, playing, producing and even marketing her music.
This new single sees a very different Chantel. Firstly, I would say she has moved into a very Americana area and also, she is exposing a level of vulnerability but also triumph as she has conquered her fears and the anxieties that ruled her.
It’s also a bloody good song.
Well produced by the legendary Wayne Proctor with Oli Brown also heavily involved, it is all driven by Colin Sutton – Bass Guitar & Thom Gardner – Drums.
Her voice is plaintive but proud, her guitar is sharp and staccato and her solo is superb.
The sound of an artist who has escaped from herself and found a new one within.
It fits very well with her previous single ‘Broken Heartless Liar’ and bodes really well for her upcoming album ‘Healed’.
Excellent.
