The band’s first track of the year starts with a sharp, distinct riff with soulful vocals on top that are irresistible and draw you straight into the track.
As we move through a steady paced melody the drums make a prominent appearance but are used with an aura of control that never rushes this cruisy-blues sound the rest of the instrumental is creating.
‘Left Of The Dealer’ feels slightly different to their previous songs, more rock heavy and less jangly summery-waved beats but as per usual the Northern Beach band have delivered with this one, and its incites listeners to wonder what else they’ll release this year.
The single is accompanied by a '60s-inspired music video directed by Duncan Wright that is packed full of nostalgic atmosphere transporting us back to this era.
Frontman Baden Donegal said: “Life is a gamble, but when we’re young, we often live in a much more carefree manner—taking all the risks, unaware of the consequences”, The Note reported.
He added: “I wrote and demoed this song at home before showing the rest of the guys. It was a sound we hadn’t really experimented with before. We jammed it a few times at our space in Middle Pocket and everything came together quickly. Messing around with guitar tones and vocal effects in the studio, we found it resembled some of our favourite bands like Creedence Clearwater Revival and Canned Heat, which we leant all the way into.”
