'The Chronicles Of A Bohemian Teenager' is 20 year old Sam Duckworth's debut album. Under the guise of ‘Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly' Sam's brand of finger-picked acoustic melodies are currently causing quite a stir. With his laptop churning out drum n bass beats to beautifully complement the acoustic folk / rock ballads, this album seems to herald the start of something truly beautiful. With a gentle turn of phrase that carries that angelic Pete Doherty charm but without the baggage 'The Chronicles Of A Bohemian Teenager' starts with beautifully understated ‘One More With Feeling'. A gently picked melody accompanied by a lonely trumpet start what is a veritable feast of an album. ‘An Oak Tree' combines the jazz / funky / whimsical charm that first encapsulated Canada's Bare Naked Ladies and 'The Chronicles Of A Bohemian Teenager (Part1)' could be Everything But The Girl in their finest form. The delicate acoustic guitar is multi-layered with beats, synth and vocals to form a unique sound. The lyrics give the album a further depth that belie this Southend born youngster's age. Expect to hear much more from this cumbersomely named outfit.
