Charli XCX is back with a bang after releasing her latest album ‘Brat’ with 15.4 million streams on its release date.

Charli XCX has now released her eagerly awaited sixth studio album ‘Brat’ featuring hit singles ‘360’ and ‘Von dutch’ after announcing it way back in February this year.

Fans flocked to stream Charli’s latest project with a whopping 15.4 million streams on its release, compared to her previous album which racked up 5.6 million streams on its debut.

The ‘It girl’ of pop kicked off her album with the smash hit ‘360’ released in March this year which has a whopping 29 million streams on Spotify while also going viral on the app TikTok by her fans. Just like Charli herself, this song screams the sheer it girl fantasy she possesses and is widely recognised for displayed in the catchy chorus “Yeah, 360 / When you're in the mirror, do you like what you see? / When you're in the mirror, you're just looking at me / I'm everywhere, I'm so Julia”. Arguably one of the best opening album tracks of this year and she continues hot on her heels throughout the albums entirety.

Next up is ‘Club classics’ which sets off strong into a trance beat and a clap gearing us up for what we know is another Charli XCX banger. As Charli’s vocals are introduced the pace is fast creating this imagery of the sensation of ‘coming up’ in the club surrounded by the beat, the energy and the atmosphere with is mirrored with the lyrics “I wanna dance with George, I wanna dance to SOPHIE / I wanna dance to HudMo / Play the track fast, not slow, pull it back twice, let's go / Sweat marks all on my clothes, tight like my kinda flow”. The rhyming and run on sentences is just truly irresistible from Charli – it’s one we’re expecting to hear all summer but it’s the sound of the beat which truly draws us listeners in keeping us under Charli’s grip.

That beat and the names previously featured in the last track are then echoed into the next track ‘Sympathy is a knife’ – a clever, seamless transition to be admired. This is where we hear the power of Charli’s vocals as she showcases their true power: she doesn’t just make bangers, she’s actually a brilliant singer too.

As we move into ‘I might say something stupid’ the tone changes into something more subdued; it creates a sense the booming energy we’ve just experienced like the best night out of your life has come to an end which is parallel to the energy in this song as Charli shows the tempo right down.

Gladly for listeners like myself the club era soon returns with his like ‘Talk talk’ and ‘Von dutch’ where the audio is lively and dynamic showcasing her pure bad bitch energy that she’s shown the world she possesses.

Other notable mentions on this album include ‘Rewind’, ‘B2b’ and ‘365’ which feature more of that iconic lyricism, rapid pace and vibrant beats.

On the 10th of June, Charli XCX also release an extended version of this album titled ‘Brat and it’s the same but there’s three more songs so it’s not’ which feature the extra tracks ‘Hello goodbye’, ‘Guess’ and ‘Spring breakers’.
