Marvin The Martian

Marvin The Martian is doing his ‘ting' with his latest ‘Hoods & Badges' EP. He landed Saaafff of the river and cites life as his main influence for his sounds. Combining rap and alternate music, this man is no alien to producing some cool grime tunes. The opening track ‘I Don't Go' (alone) holds leanings towards old skool style that don't mess. Marvin mixes his fluid rap with strong samples ‘Walk with Me' from new band Good Books. ‘Around The Way' takes you on a telling rap trip round his native Brixton. The EP concludes with the finishing track ‘Stay Off The Kane' taking samples of Emily Kane from Art Brut. A strong, fresh track with attitude that succeeds. A fave of Xfm's John Kennedy who gave SOTK airplay last year. Overall an impressive EP and distinct in its mix of Grime and Indie, Marvin is me thinks destined for greatness.
