The first single from Jewel's new album ‘Goodbye Alice in Wonderland' is ‘Again and Again' which exemplifies most tracks off the record in its seemingly familiar chorus (one thinks I must have it heard somewhere before but I forget). It's a typical American pop song with an acoustic setting, a steady yet bland vocal and musical performance ideal for mono radios and elevators. Lyrically for such a capable poet that Jewel is, these words have been tested in pop songs “again and again”.
For example” like a movie I once saw, in the darkness I recall, feeling the beauty and the pain, like when you call my name, say you feel the same.”
I'm sorry but I hoped for better, much better.
