There's a confidence surrounding The Lost Revue that only comes from 2-3 years of solid gigging and the self belief of knowing all are rowing in the right direction. With that comes a stage presence of comfortable assurance, like once hard to break in shoes developing a slippers like ease. They wear it well. Second single release, the much spoken of Orphans & Vandals, opened the show with the pomp and swagger of a unit that has paid its dues and ready to play with the big boys. The eight strong set ended with the roof raising 20 Miles of Elbow Room (sometimes referred to as the Fight Song), delivered with the chanting provocation of an alternative London Calling. In between, the Dylan-harmonica driven Revival, came into its own and stole the show. Current release, Street Meat, perfectly sandwiched in the middle of the set, stood firm and bluesy proud. The decent crowd, including their faithful Lost Army, as always appreciated the punk-blues assault. So, TLR continue their march toward the musical promised land. The road is getting shorter as the upcoming gigs rise in pedigree. The big boys beckon.
