My expectations of this gig were pretty low but I remembered liking Whitesnake's big single the first time around so I thought I'd give them a chance. A promising opening of Deep Purple classics ‘Burn' and ‘Stormbringer' was followed by a dreadful selection of Whitesnake songs, all too long and very much the same.

The guitar pecking order was obvious, first guitar Doug Aldrich backed by four Marshall stacks, second guitar Reb Beach only allowed three! The big moment was of course “Here I Go Again” – the only Whitesnake song that most people can name. It was good fun and thankfully not milked to death as a lot of the other songs were (‘Lovehunter' in particular).

Whitesnake are a parody of themselves. David Coverdale's soft rock shrieking was just embarrassing, and Doug Aldrich's ten minute guitar solo was pure unadulterated widdle, not a trace of melody to be found. Thank god things have moved on since the eighties. Probably the worst gig I've ever been to. Whitesnake? More like Shitesnake!
