Ok, first things first, Khoma are Swedish. No jokes about Abba and sauna's please. Actually Sweden's music scene has produced a wave of talent over the past few years including Meshugga, Cult Of Luna and The Soundtrack Of Our Lives and it's set to continue with the introduction of Khoma to the mainstream. Originally starting life as a side-project, Khoma features Johannes Persson and Fredrik Kihlberg from Cult Of Luna fame and seriously, this is as far away from Abba as you can get.

The Second Wave is a collection of some of the most beautiful and enjoyable tracks you will have heard in an age. It's filled with tracks like the current single ‘Medea', which is broody and atmospheric but still also manages to produce a massive, galloping tune out of the bag to boot.

Other notable tracks include the haunting Hyenas with its Radiohead-indebted vocals and swirling melodies and the stunning ‘Through Walls' where the bludgeoning guitars demonstrate the harder side of this truly scrumptious band.

Rounding off the album with the melancholy ‘One Of Us Must Hang' it's a dead cert that people will be talking about Khoma for a long time to come.

Mesmerising.
