The Overtones have been at the forefront of male harmony groups since they broke through in 2010 with the still impressive Good Ol' Fashioned Love. Boasting a sound that is authentically vintage, their timeless appeal and flawless vocals hold cross-generational appeal. Partnered with their boy band good looks, the quintet have won an army of fans over the course of their 4 studio albums. However, 2018 has been a tough year for the band and their toners, given the passing of band member Timmy Matley. While the band could have easily walked away from recording of their latest record, they decided to continue in the memory of the band mate.

The eponymous collection does not shake up the band's tried and tested formula, instead continuing to build on the strong foundations they made as a quintet. But the biggest test for their fans will be if the quartet sound complete without Timmy.

The sad truth is that Timmy's distinctive vocal did add an extra layer into the stunning harmonies, but that as a quartet, The Overtones still have something special to offer. While their reworkings are not the most original or imaginative, they boast a timeless quality that still gives you the tingles.

While the Matley featuring Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow? is without shadow of doubt the haunting highlight of the collection, there is no denying that the absolutely stunning stripped back delivery of Spice Girls' Goodbye comes a very close second.

The Overtones deserve huge applause for delivering a new album so soon after the tragic loss of Matley, and the fact it is a moving and uplifting collection is even more impressive.
