A Drummers Perspective II is as delicious on the eye as the original pictorial treat published half a decade ago. Five years on and David Phillips once again celebrates the subtle elegance and outlandish showmanship of drummers and their kit. Armed only with his camera he braved missiles, pyrotechnics and mud, to capture the individuality each player brings to the throne up close and in full flow.

Sparkling hardware, endless toms, and glistening cymbals are brought to life by over one hundred dynamic drumming masters. Check out the warm silhouette and sunshine of Josh ‘McKnasty McKenzie (Tinie Temper), the dazzling drum head water splash from a Chris Frazier (Foreigner) solo, or the shy and retiring Tommy Lee (Motley Crue) upside-down drumming on a rollercoaster track above the audience.

From the minimalist Pearl set-up of Michael Cartellone (Lynyrd Skynrd) to Neil Peart’s custom made DW Time Machine. From Ginger Baker to Travis Barker, Billy Cobham to Stewart Copeland, and Evelyn Glennie to Sheila E, David Phillips beautifully presents the wide and glorious spectrum of the drummer’s art.
