Well… blow me down! I’ve seen a few comebacks in my time and this was right up there with the best of them.

Having sold out 4 consecutive nights at the Sheffield O2 on announcing their comeback and then selling out a UK tour I should have expected nothing less...

As the announced stage time drew closer, the KOKO crowd were absolutely purring. Chants of ‘Milburn’, ‘Milburn’ ‘Milburn’ echoed through the former theatre hall and as the boys finally took to the stage, the blue touch paper was lit and absolute mayhem ensued. Never have I felt quite so lucky to be on the second floor of a gig venue as I looked down on the capacity crowd hustle, mosh and sway itself relentlessly through the full set.

True to tradition, the set opened with ‘Well Well Well’, after which the band launched straight into ‘Send in the boys’. With Security calling for reinforcements from a crowd going near ballistic, they must have been pleased to see a slight relenting in the tempo but it wasn’t to last. Every tune seemed to be going down a storm. Lead vocalist Joe Carnall announced the band were working on new material and new single ‘Midnight Control’ got a fantastic reception from the crowd most of whom already seemed to be singing along.

‘What About Next time’ further boosted the feel good factor felt throughout the evening with the crowd now dancing on all floors and it all exploded again as they played ‘What Will You Do When The Money Goes’.

Encoring with ‘Roll Out The Barrel’ the stage lights came down and an incredible comeback was complete. Worth mentioning that the band were accompanied on keys by Ed Cosens of Reverand and The Makers which brought a new edge to their sound and could well be something we see more of in the future.

‘Milburn’, ‘Milburn’ ‘Milburn’ the crowd continued to sing as they left. I wait with baited breath to hear more of their new material. What they can count on for sure is the loyal support of their fans!
