No English festival is complete without a bit of rain but no one was prepared for the downpour that hit the little village of Portmeirion. What was a picturesque magical festival became swamped in mud forcing the Number 6 team to bring out all the stops.

The impressive main line up with the likes of a Bowie tribute band, Kaiser Chiefs, Bastille and Noel Gallagher kept everyone’s spirits up as they pogoed in the mud. With Kaiser Chiefs performing huge anthems to adoring fans, Bastille forcing the crowds to dance through the night and David Bowie Reimagined playing iconic songs from across Bowie’s career. Best of all was Noel Gallagher performing a mixture of his two studio albums and sprinkling in the occasional Oasis tune.

Alongside the headliners were artists who took to the smaller stages hidden within the wondrous woods, the main tent and even just performing in the centre of the arena. Wherever you went there was always something to see or hear such as Mr Wilson's Second Liners. Processing through the fields attracting a massive crowd, the brass band played 90s club classics in their own unique way. However the festival goers couldn't appreciate the eclectic line up as much as they should have due to the safety concerns forcing management to close off multiple areas.

There was still many places to escape the treacherous weather with The Gatehouse showing Q&A sessions with Shaun Ryder and Johnny Vegas but the real highlight had to be the exclusive Oasis film preview and Q&A with director Mat Whitecross. The never before seen footage was introduced and explained by Whitecross, giving the festival goers a real treat.

Despite the weather Festival Number 6 still created a memorable weekend for those who pushed through. The weekend didn’t end so perfectly, leaving the visitors stranded in the flooded car park awaiting the real heroes, the tractor drivers, to free their cars. The once classy sophisticated festival lacked organisation as if they didn’t expect it to rain in Wales!
